Fully Automated Process to generate Building’s Shapes and Side-Road Reference Points/Links.
This API is based exclusively on Google Maps Views. The user can choose the area of interest, set the suitable zoom level in order to display clearly buildings shapes within the area.
Once validated, the API proceed for detection and geojson file generation. All buildings are detected with their Centroid points, the Side-Road points related to it and the estimated links from centroids to side road points.
Also a centered Road point is generated for future reference.
The maximum error rate for the detection is estimated at 3%, which represent generally errors due to low pixels definition of a given building, bad zoom level choice, very close buildings (in this case buildings are regrouped) and bad choice of parameters (distance of separation, boundary density etc.).
User can create a session for scanning tasks, the session can handle an unlimited number of areas which constitute parts of a global zone, region or country. Once the session is terminated, it is possible to merge geojson files by type. At the end, 4 geojson files are generated : Polygons for buildings, Points for Centroids, Points for Side-road points and Linestrings for links between Centroids and side-road.
